Eleguá, The messenger between the human and divine worlds. He is a happy, playful, and a contradictory character, who likes to play tricks. Colours: black and red.
Ochún, Deity of love, femininity, beauty, arts, fertility, maternity and marriage, goddess also of the river, which represents purification. Colours: Yellow and gold.
Changó, A warrior deity, divinity of thunder and fire, Father of the sky. Represents male power and sexuality. Colours: Red and white

History:

Oricha/Orisha dances are religious manifestations of The Regla de Ocha (also known as Regla Lucumí). When the Yoruba people from Nigeria arrived in Cuba 1820-1840 they brought with them the practices of the Orishas (semi gods) religion. But colonial laws criminalized their religion. They were forced to become baptized. This religious tradition evolved into Santería which is a system of beliefs that merges the Yoruba religion with Christianity and Native American traditions. The dances to the Orishas can take years to master, as each dance has several chants and toques with individual characteristics, In Cuba the most popular Orichas are: -Eleguá, Ogún, Ochosi, Ochún, Yemayá, Changó, Obatalá,...
